The idea of this new church started as a worshipping community nestled within All Souls Episcopal Parish in Berkeley, called the Sunday Night Service. We first gathered in November of 2021, but quickly realized that our collective bandwidth would not allow for us to grow much more than what and who we were—and we felt like there was more life in this community than we could give it. In the summer of 2023 we decided to end our Sunday gatherings, but have kept alive some of the aspects of community life into 2024. At the end of 2023 we were given a grant to help fund the work of turning this community into a new church.

While there is just one leader of this community for now, we are in the process of regathering a core group from the Sunday Night Service (and beyond) and putting together a launching team to help make sure this is the effort and desire of a group of people—not just one.
